Motor Yacht For Sale

Brief Description
Cheoy Lee, Hongkong build, (1981/82), 48 Foot Motor Yacht, "Gold
Standard" Hkg. Reg. No. 30976.
The Cheoy Lee 48 Foot Sports Fisherman was originally aimed mostly at
the affluent United States pleasure boat market, and is a
futuristic-looking and luxurious high-speed vessel that is intended for
both sports fishing and general aquatic fun. It has a rather unusual hull
shape that incorporates a semi-step on each side and a false chine, both
of which add lift and reduce the amount of spray thrown about.
Tom Fexas seems to have come up with a breakthrough in his hull design,
as his boat is both easy riding and economical.
Enough of the pleasure boat versions (app. 400) of the vessel have now
been built to give an indication of the performance and durability of the
vessel. This seems to be more than satisfactory in all respects.
Hull, deck and superstructure are all constructed of fiberglass over
Airex foam, and this has led to a very solid and quiet vessel. Another
effect is of course that it is extremely well insulated and resistant to
impact.
The main steering station has two comfortable adjustable chairs and the
deck in the main saloon is covered with ironwood panels.
Gold Standard totally refurnished and refitted September 1998 to
January 1999 at its origin Cheoy Lee Shipyard, Hong Kong under Yard No.
3801. Invoice No. 99-01-05 dated January 14, 1999 has the latest, January
1999, installed electronics such as:
- Lorenz Excalibur 7 Chart Plotter plus Autopilot - Furuno FAP 300
- GPS-30
- Deep Sounder/Fish Finder Furuno FCV-668
- VHF Radio Furuno FM-2710
Radar - Furuno Model 1832 electronics are installed at the helm station
together with all maneuvering and engine controls and at the fly bridge.
Refitted during June 1999 - March 2000 at Subic Watercraft shipyard and
in Manila with complete new interior in all cabins and in the saloon. The
aft cabin completely new designed and changed from a two bunk bed cabin
into one large bed cabin (like owner cabin).
The engine room, noise and heat insulated with 40mm aluminum plated
special foam which is immediately below the main saloon, is comparatively
spacious, although lacking in head room. It is clearly dominated by the
two large Mercedes Benz OM 404 A turbo charged, 12 cylinder engines, each
providing 336 Kw or 457 Hp totally overhauled and serviced by MTU Hong
Kong November 1998-January 1999, Invoice No. 801336, 114459 dated December
31, 1998. But there is still access around them and the Onan 221.5 KW
auxiliary brand new generator, with 4 cylinder Kubota diesel motor (built
in 11/1999).
Another refitting and all over maintenance with the installation of new
(May 1999) manifolds for both main engines, electrical pumps, converter
(24 Volt, 220 Volt, 500 Watt), battery charging system took place during
March up to May 1999 by Bretter Engineering in Hongkong. (Invoices
available.) From June - December 1999 Gold Standard was docked in Subic
Watercraft Venture Shipyard to install a brand new ONAN 21.5 KW Diesel
Generator and for a new complete interior overhauling, renewal of its
refrigerators. Four (4) weeks dry docking for renewal every two years of
the underwater anti fouling painting and new chroming of all stainless
steel accessories. (All invoices available.)
400 miles at a speed of app. 15 knots, and with a top speed, fully
loaded approx. 20 knots. The economical patrolling requirement is well
covered by the fact that the vessel can operate extremely economically at
idle speed on one engine.
The operating economy of the vessel is an attractive feature, and even
a top speed it will cover app., with 1500 rpm one nautical mile per 2.5
gallon. (Both engines.) The fuel tanks, totaling 1150 Imp. Gallon, give it
a range of app. 600 miles, depending on its speed.
The performance of totally 915 HP, of the two Mercedes Diesel, Turbo
charged engines, is extremely attractive. Especially so, when it is
compared with high speed outboard powered vessels under half the length
and far less than half the carrying capacity which would used
approximately the same amount of fuel. They would not be able to keep up
their higher top speeds in the sort of seas, which Gold Standard would
relish.
In the engine room, there are, beside the two dominating OM404A
Mercedes/MTU Main engines, and the brand new 21.5 KW ONAN Generator a 30
liter warm water 1500 Watt boiler, a deckwash pump ITT Jabsco PAR-MAX 4,
24 Volt, 10PSI, and a drinking water pump ITT Jabsco PAR-MATE, 24 Volt,
with pressure tank. Both pumps are fully automatic working.
Two power 220 Volt engine room air inlet and air outlet blowers are
working to keep the engine room temperature and the combustion air in a
good average of app 40 degrees Celsius.
Gold Standard is fast for her size and almost capable of keeping up
with fast ferries.
Gold Standard is extremely maneuverable and both stops and accelerates
very quickly. One fault she has that is common to almost all vessels of
her type is that she produces a huge wash in the medium speed levels. High
and low speed washes are negligible.
Gold Standard is a very impressive looking vessel in her navy blue and
white paintwork. She is fitted on deck with a dinghy lifting derrick with
a Wahler dinghy and a 15 HP Outborder, a substantial anchor winch 24 Volt
Maxwell with 30 kg. Bruce anchor and 90 meter or 30 fathoms 3/8 inch
tensile chain.
The vessel has a large fully covered flying bridge, which provides a
magnificent view for the helmsman in good conditions, and there is an
additional fully-fitted steering station (helm station) in the main cabin.
The ironwood-planked saloon and aft cockpit has wide opening doors and
a useful roller platform. Down below the yacht ancestry of the vessel is
obvious with a bathroom and three separate WC and shower. There is a
forward cabin for two additional double cabins in the middle and another
double cabin at the aft part well as one office room. The main saloon is
simply fitted out with to long bench seats on either side with a hi-lo
table between, the flooring in paneled with ironwood (1999).
Galley facilities incorporate two domestic electric refrigerator, a
brand new three burner LPG Gas Stove with two gas bottles at the fly
bridge installed May '99, a sink and storage area.
The navigation equipment was completely newly installed by Cheoy Lee
Shipyard in Hong Kong, at the helm station, January 1999. It contains
Lorenz Chart Plotter, an autopilot Furuno system connected with Furuno GPS
30, s Deep Sounder combined with fish finder Furuno FCV 668, an Autohelm
dept sounder and speed log at flybridge and helm station, a Furuno Radio
type FM 2710 and a 36 miles Furuno Model 1832 Radar.
The fly bridge is totally covered with a stainless steel frame covered
with sunbrella UV resistant Fabrics US made color blue awnings all around
in addition the whole stb and port side at fly bridge and at the aft ship
part is covered against rain with roll on and off clear plastic awnings.
All cabins with new mattresses made out of airflex hard foam including
in the salon, fly bridge and front seats.
Each cabin has two loudspeaker for piped in music centralized at the
saloon with one Sony Hi-Fi Radio Component with tape deck and Video CD,
one multi-system Sony Video tape recorder, and one color multi-system
Polytron 14 inch TV. An intercom system at the fly bridge-saloon-helm
station.
The saloon and all cabin floorings are paneled with the very rare
Mindanao iron wood planks, sealed with 3 coats special floor varnish. The
aft deck is paneled with hard wood and sealed with 3 coats.
All cabins equipped with fire extinguisher. The engine room has its
special foam extinguisher. One newly inspected life raft for six persons
including six life rings is on board, plus latest edition of six life
vests with lifebelts.
The boat is fully equipped with all brand new necessary special tools,
mechanical, as wells as electric-electronic testing instruments (Fluke +
Sanwa), drill machine, grinder, drill bits and all main spare parts like
filter, belts, bulbs, electric extension cable as well as all needed
ropes, fenders and brand new kitchen utensils.
