Technical Scuba Diving
Born
in London in 1964, Dave Ross grew up on the South Coast of England,
and was educated at the University of Leeds, graduating in Geology in
1987. Deciding that the North Sea Oil Fields were not for him he headed
for the Far East and spent several years traveling and working between
Hong Kong and Australia.
During this time he learned to dive, turning professional as a Divemaster
in 1991 and PADI Instructor in 1992. Working primarily with
Asia Divers in Puerto Galera, Dave went on to be among the first group of
IANTD Nitrox Instructors ever certified in the Philippines in 1995. He now
is an Instructor Trainer to Advanced Nitrox Level, a Trimix
Instructor, Semi Closed Rebreather Instructor and DAN O2
Provider Instructor.
Since turning professional Dave has trained nearly 900 divers at
all levels and logged more than 6,000 dives, and been instrumental
in the set up and management of Tech Asia, a Dive Center specializing
solely in advanced and technical diving.
Beyond teaching in Puerto Galera he has worked in Subic Bay, and
been active in providing both home and abroad dive trips to Coron, the
Sulu Sea and Truk Lagoon in Micronesia. In recent years the focus has been
leaning towards technical wreck diving, for which the Philippines
provides boundless opportunities.
