Getting There
Transportation is readily available and cheap and ranges from motorized tricycles, the well known colorful Jeepneys, buses, plenty taxis, light rail transportation in Metro Manila to good flight connections offered by various local airlines or the various shipping lines connecting the islands.

Philippine Airlines (PAL), the country's flag carrier, is servicing international as well as domestic destinations. Air Philippines, Cebu Pacific and PAL servicing all principal cities and towns in the country. All international airports have sufficient traveler facilities. Asian Spirit services the missionary routes. Scheduled chartered flights to major town and cities are serviced by smaller airplanes. For passengers arriving at the NAIA, baggage carts and porters are available. There are accredited fixed rate and metered taxis at the arrival area. By LandPhiltranco connects Manila to Bicol in Southern Luzon to Samar and Leyte in the Visayas and Davao in Mindanao. Public utility vehicles can be found all over and are operating 24 hours. During the rush hour from 7.30 am to 10.00 am and 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm traffic is the heaviest and people squeeze for a free space, thus if not necessary avoid this time for commuting. Fares are relatively cheap: for short distances Jeepneys and regular bus fares range about 4 Pesos, air-conditioned buses charge 9 Pesos. Regular taxis start with flag down of 25 Pesos. Metered and fixed rate taxis are widely available. The Metrotren operated by Philippine National Railways, operates regular as well as air-con coaches servicing the greater Metro Manila region. From the north of Meycayayan in Bulacan it stretches down south to Carmona in Cavite. Outside greater metro Manila areas are reached by the PNR train, which goes as far as Polangui Albay in Bicol. Tickets sell at 180 Pesos for regular and 260 for air-con. The LRT (Light Rail Transit) running from Monumento in Kalookan to Baclaran in Pasay and another one running throughout the length of EDSA provide convenient and fast traveling. Tickets are affordable. Rent a Car services are also available with or without driver. Long distance traveling to the provinces is available through regular as well as comfortable, air conditioned buses.
